KHONSU COLONY POSTER
PROJECT FOR IND_264
ASSIGNMENT
This project revolved around theorizing and designing a self sustaining space colony. The colony had to exist in a near-future world using technologies somewhat grounded in the real world. This meant considering how large of a payload could be launched, how oxygen is generated, how food is grown, and more. The end goal of the project was to have a poster that was both informative and visually interesting.
CONCEPT
Named after the Egyptian god of journeys, Khonsu is a fully modular space station that harvests space junk (e.g. dead satellites, derelict spacecraft, and abandoned launch vehicle stages) in order to perpetually expand itself. Daily life is spent in zero gravity while sleeping is done in cylinders that spin to create 2Gs to recover from muscle and bone deterioration from living in zero gravity.
